‘Capabilities for Life’ Courses @ Kolbe

Kolbe Catholic College’s Capabilities Courses, Ignite (Y7), Build (Y8), and Strive (Y9) embed the College’s Capabilities for Life framework into experiential learning that fosters real-world problem-solving, character, citizenship, creativity, and critical thinking. Grounded in Catholic social teaching principles of subsidiarity, co-responsibility, common good, participation, and equity, students engage in collaborative decision-making and meaningful dialogue. Over three years, they develop leadership, empathy, and a commitment to service, inspired by a Christ-centred vision. This approach equips students to actively live the Gospel, act ethically, and contribute as informed, compassionate, faith-filled citizens dedicated to the flourishing of both people and the planet.
