Inspired by the 2021 National Reconciliation Week theme, “More than a word. Reconciliation takes action” and the 2021 NAIDOC Week theme, ‘Heal Country’, the project, Healing country and truly hearing the Stolen Generations, has provided Year 10 students at Sacred Heart College with an invaluable opportunity to truly hear and take action in response to the powerful lived experience of Joanne Abraham, a Ngarluma woman, Sacred Heart College parent and member of the Stolen Generations. Joanne’s ‘story’ provides pathways for true reconciliation, healing and “whole-school improvement through an Aboriginal education lens” which has significantly impacted our students in visceral ways.
