The students thought that it was important for the Chisholm Catholic College community to have a cultural space within the school that represented the First Nations people. A space that gave an opportunity to learn and grow. The yarning circle, along with the six Noongar seasons art piece, designed by the students, would provide an outdoor classroom where all students could ‘yarn’ and learn from one another. The name of the yarning circle is Ngalla Maya Kadidjiny meaning ‘Our Place of Learning’ in the Noongar Language. The Aboriginal students wanted the name to incorporate how they felt about Chisholm College.
