Mary’s Mount Primary School took Ukraine’s national flower and spread seeds of hope among the community to raise funds, through Caritas for the country’s stricken citizens. Initially, sunflower seeds were planted in the school’s garden in late 2021 in support of disadvantaged schools in Victoria struggling in isolation. Early in 2022, Year 6 student Louisa voiced her growing concern for the people of Ukraine and suggested a fundraiser as a show of solidarity. The Year 6 students harvested the seeds from the garden to sell to the community, spreading the next generation of blooms in support of hope.
