To complement Sacred Heart College’s success in embedding the Australian Curriculum General Capabilities into the core curriculum, we introduced SHine, a middle-school program aimed at providing students with authentic learning opportunities to develop key essential skills through social entrepreneurship. Students commence the program in Year 7, where they develop skills including collaboration, innovation, perseverance and critical thinking through fun, intensive, practical workshops. In Year 8, students are then ready to undertake Change Makers, an introduction to social entrepreneurship, centred on the Sustainable Development Goals and Design Thinking Methodology. For students wanting more, Year 9 Just Start It is on offer.
