Saint Maria Goretti’s AFAFE Playgroup

St Maria Goretti’s AFaFE playgroup (Moort Waabiny) has been in place for 10 years. It was started so local Aboriginal families in the area could experience St Maria Goretti's in a comfortable, supported and non-judgemental environment before their child reaches school age. It was also an opportunity for Catholic Education to reach out to Aboriginal families and offer them educational support they may not otherwise receive. Over the past five years people attending the playgroup have gone from friends and families of the facilitators to local families in the area and Aboriginal enrolments in the school have doubled.
