Guided by the goals of Laudato Si, John XXIII College nurtures connections between human life, God, neighbours, and Earth. Upon learning about the imminent clearing of the Gnangara Pine Plantation, a vital food source for endangered Carnaby’s Black Cockatoos, the College initiated a planting program. Over two years, more than 300 native trees and shrubs have been planted on campus, providing sustenance for the Carnaby. Practical Science classes have actively participated, learning about germination, and nurturing native species. The program fosters leadership, stewardship, and community engagement among students, parents, and staff, who have collectively joined in planting and maintenance efforts.
