Ngurra Yungu (Community Giving) Project

John Pujajangka-Piyirn is a small, remote school in the far East Kimberley. The Ngurra Yungu (Community Giving) Project benefits both Elders and students practically, pastorally and culturally. Students benefit by developing crucial life skills, including shopping, cooking and gardening, as well as building respectful relationships with Elders. Highlights include the genuine gratitude of the Elders and the joy of giving experienced by the students each week when they deliver meals. The unique interpersonal connections between students and the elders in the community highlight the strong sense of identity in Aboriginal Culture and traditions.
