Apron Amigos – Cooking for Wellbeing at Emmaus CPS

Emmaus Catholic Primary School DAYTON

Apron Amigos is a Christ-centred, child-focused wellbeing initiative at Emmaus Catholic Primary School that uses cooking as the vehicle for learning, connection and belonging. Designed for teacher-nominated students from Pre-Primary to Year 3, it provides a safe, joyful environment where children develop confidence, resilience, communication, social skills and independence through meaningful, hands-on experiences. Its distinctive Amigos model enables participants to invite a classmate, intentionally strengthening friendships and inclusion. Supported by staff and parent volunteers, the program has become a valued part of the Emmaus community. Student voice, parent testimonials and teacher observations demonstrate meaningful growth in engagement, confidence, relationships and readiness for learning.
