Living Laudato Si’ – Caring for Our Common Home

Hammond Park Catholic Primary School has embedded the principles of Laudato Si’ through a whole-school sustainability initiative that empowers students, staff and the wider community to care for our common home. Guided by a staff-developed Laudato Si’ Action Plan, the project has transformed a previously underutilised garden into an inclusive learning space featuring composting systems, worm farms, rainwater harvesting and edible gardens. Student leaders drive environmental initiatives, mentor younger students and promote responsible stewardship across the school. Through hands-on learning opportunities, the project strengthens community engagement, develops student agency and ensures meaningful, accessible educational experiences for students across the school.
