Creation of Reflective Outdoor Spaces

St John Paul II Catholic Primary School strengthened Catholic Identity through a whole-school initiative inspired by the school motto ‘in Harmony’, Catholic Social Teaching, and Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’. A neglected area of the school was transformed into a naturescape featuring a restored labyrinth, dry creek bed, native vegetation, tree-crossing paths, and a yarning circle. Supported by staff formation in contemplative prayer, stewardship, and reconciliation, the initiative has fostered prayerful contemplation, care for creation, and a deep sense of belonging. Students, staff, and families now regularly engage in prayer, reflection, and meaningful encounters with God through creation.
