In Catholic schools across Western Australia, there are many initiatives and projects, led by dedicated individuals and teams, that demonstrate a deep commitment to providing engaged learning environments where all students are supported to discover their potential.
The Education award recognises outstanding school projects and initiatives that inspire and support students in their learning and make a significant contribution to educational outcomes of students and staff in Catholic schools.

This award will recognise an outstanding Education project or initiative developed by a Catholic school in Western Australia (one Primary and one Secondary).


Entry Criteria

100 word entry nomination summary
Your 100 word entry nomination is critical in summarising all of the major highlights and benefits of your project.  It’s important to note, this summary will be used for the People’s Choice vote as well as the basis for the awards booklet and winning video script.
Nominations must address each of the following criteria with a brief response (no more than 250 words per criteria, you may refer to a linked media item to support your nomination).
  1. What was the motivation for the project or initiative and what did your school set out to achieve?
  2. Describe the strategies, activities and resources employed.
  3. Who has benefitted from the project or initiative and in what ways?
  4. Provide evidence to support the impact of the project or initiative on learning outcomes of students or staff.
  5. In what ways has the project or initiative demonstrated a commitment to CEWA’s Vision for Learning?
  6. Describe any barriers to success and how these have been addressed.

General Information

All applications must be submitted by 5pm on Friday, 15 August 2025.

Nominations must include the following:

  • Nomination/School Details
  • Nomination endorsement by the principal
  • Nomination Summary of the project or initiative – Maximum 100 words – The 100-word summary in your entry nomination will be used for the People’s Choice vote as well as the basis for the awards booklet and winning video script. Please ensure it encapsulates your initiative.
  • Nomination Criteria Response for the project or initiative – Maximum 250 words per criteria
  • School Logo (high resolution JPG file – minimum 1000px, 500kB).
  • Photographs – Include three-five images (high resolution JPG files – Minimum 3Mb, landscape orientation) of the nominated project and/or team members. Please select which image you would like to use to accompany your nomination for the People’s Choice award.

Nominations may also include (optional):

  • Supporting Documentation – PDF document (maximum five pages).
  • Media/Video – A video demonstrating the outcomes of the project or initiative (no more than three-minute duration), uploaded to a publicly viewable platform e.g. Youtube or Vimeo. Videos must not exceed three minutes in length.

Nominated initiatives must be led and implemented by the school; initiatives primarily developed or delivered by external organisations or individuals will not be considered.

Any staff member in schools can make the application or be nominated (group nominations are also accepted).

Judging:

Category judges will shortlist applications and a final judging panel will determine the winners.

In order to ensure all nominations meet CEWA’s Vision for Learning and QCE Framework, please note all entries will be reviewed prior to voting for the People’s Choice award.

To nominate in the QCE Awards in 2025, you must:

  • Be a current member of staff in a Catholic school in Western Australia.
  • Nominate a category for your entry.
  • Be currently involved in the project/initiative.
  • Agree to spend the award money to further the project/initiative or deliver Professional Development related to the project/initiative.
  • Have demonstrated positive contributions across one of the four categories for student, staff, school and the community in Catholic Education.
  • Demonstrate high levels of commitment and significant contribution to the school community.

Category Award Winners

In 2025, eight QCE Category Awards will be awarded, with two awards conferred for each category (one Primary and one Secondary) of Catholic Identity, Education, Community and Stewardship.

Category Award winners will receive $4000 for their school.

There will also be awards for the winners of the People’s Choice vote and for the best Student-Led Initiative.

Student-Led Initiative Award

Following its success in recent years, there will be two awards for the Student-Led Initiative (one Primary and one Secondary) which will be awarded to the most outstanding projects initiated by a student or students. The Student-Led Initiative Award is across all QCE categories.

Student-Led Initiative Award winners will each be awarded $4000 for their school.

People’s Choice Award

Voting for the People’s Choice Award will take place online.

The 100-word summary in your entry nomination will be used for the People’s Choice vote as well as the basis for the awards booklet and winning video script. Please ensure it encapsulates your initiative.

In order to ensure all nominations meet CEWA’s Vision for Learning and QCE Framework, please note all entries will be reviewed prior to voting for the People’s Choice award.

The People’s Choice Award winner will be awarded $4000 for their school.
