Student Voice Redefining the Leaver’s Experience

Seton Catholic College’s Alternative to Leavers Service Tour was born from a unique collaboration between student initiative and staff vision. Year 11 students Ella and Jade proposed a Christian service trip to deepen cultural understanding and support a community in need. Deputy Principal Jason Edmunds suggested shaping the experience as a values-based, drug-free alternative to Leavers’ celebrations. The result was a transformative tour, combining daytime Christian Service Learning – working with over 160 Myanmar refugee children in Bangkok – with culturally enriching Leavers’ activities at night. The program embodied Seton’s values of Respect, Inclusion, Service and Excellence.
