Co-designed Breakout Space for Neurodiverse Students

St Denis School JOONDANNA

St Denis School student Reuben identified the need for a breakout space for students experiencing heightened states of affect during class. Off the back of starting a successful lunchtime ‘Beyblade Club’, Reuben engaged the pastoral care team and one of the school’s Education Assistants, incorporating proposal-writing skills he developed in launching the ‘Beyclub’, to begin co-developing the space. The breakout space is comfortable, easily accessible, and designed to pass down as a legacy project to upcoming year groups to both utilise and build upon, giving the gift of calm in an age of hurry and hustle.
