Connections through Country First Nations Artwork

Our Lady of Mercy College brings together families from Australind, Binningup, Brunswick Junction, Bunbury, Collie and Harvey – communities connected by waterways and located on the lands of the Bindjareb, Wardandi and Wilman peoples. In collaboration with local Noongar Elders, Basil and Val, the College developed a project celebrating these connections through a collaborative artwork of six landscape panels representing the unique features of the region. Basil guided students and staff in learning Noongar art techniques. Val conducted yarning sessions that shared cultural knowledge. The initiative culminated in the installation of the artwork and a bilingual Acknowledgement of Country panel.
