With the support of a grant from Catholic Education WA, Our Lady of Lourdes School purchased bilingual books and resources in languages including Portuguese, Swahili, Vietnamese and Russian to establish a Multilingual Library. Having multilingual books in each classroom that reflect the ethnicity of the students has helped create a more inclusive and diverse learning environment. It has encouraged students to explore different cultures and languages, fostering a sense of belonging and understanding among classmates. In a community where many students speak languages other than English, having access to books in their first language is key to developing school-home partnerships.
