Led by Aboriginal Teaching Assistants and community Elders, Gija Day saw the whole school community celebrating Gija culture. Children and their families, friends, Police, Job Pathways, Kija Rangers and Warmun Council - everyone was invited to help celebrate, wear their skin names with pride and meet their new brothers, cousins and mothers. They made damper, carved boab nuts, and made clapping sticks from wood the students had collected. Warmun Art Centre brought artists to assist in workshops and lead bush medicine collecting and making. One special elder even wore her Gija Day t-shirt from the last Day, some 10 years ago!
