Mary MacKillop Catholic Community Primary School BALLAJURA
Recognising the need for meaningful, engaging and purposeful learning opportunities for students with disability, Mary MacKillop Catholic Community Primary School developed a Card Making Program that combines creativity, entrepreneurship and authentic learning. Students design and create greeting cards which are sold within the school community. Through the program, students apply literacy, numeracy, communication and social skills in real-world contexts while achieving ABLES English and Mathematics goals and Individual Education Plan targets. Students manage sales, handle money, make collaborative decisions and democratically choose how profits are spent. Funding a zoo excursion strengthened student voice, choice, independence, confidence, communication, self-regulation, engagement and meaningful community participation throughout.
Please note the People’s Choice award is across all categories and each individual is only entitled to one vote.
