Integrating the Natural Environment with the Classroom Learning Environment

Whitford Catholic Primary School’s recent capital project, which included refurbishing six classrooms and part of the library, was designed to integrate indoor and outdoor learning spaces for senior students. This fosters a deeper connection with creation by encouraging students to engage with the natural environment as part of their daily learning. The refurbished spaces model sustainable practices through the use of natural light and eco-friendly materials. By learning in and about nature, students develop a sense of awe and responsibility for God’s creation, living out the Laudato Si’ call to care for our common home through stewardship and ecological awareness.
