Salvado Catholic College BYFORD
The Salvado Catholic College ‘Language, Culture and Identity’ Project positions students as competent authors, demonstrating creativity, student agency and multilingual pedagogies to highlight funds of knowledge in the classroom and foster pride for cultural heritage. 40% of learners at The College are multilingual, so embedding multilingual pedagogies in classrooms is a priority. One Year Four class explored language varieties, developed digital skills using Canva, and composed ‘Where I’m From’ identity poems. The project culminated in a vibrant book launch, with students joyfully explaining the project and reading their poetry to the school community. The final book was placed in the College library.
