Laudato Si and Act

La Salle College's ‘Laudato Si and Act’ project provides meaningful opportunity for catechesis through community service as part of the wider ‘Touching Hearts’ Christian Service-Learning Program. Inspired by Pope Francis' encyclical, students develop a faith-based view of sustainability, ecosystems, and civic responsibility, fostering a commitment to lifelong learning and service. Partnering with the Town of Bassendean and Susannah Brook Catchment Group, students replace weeds with native species while participating in seminars, discussions, prayer, and hands-on activities. Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching, the project emphasises the practical application of caring for the environment, critical thinking, leadership skills and Catholic faith.
