Ngalangangpum School is located on Gija Country in the Kimberley. Gija language is endangered, and our school plays a fundamental role in keeping it alive for the students and local people. Staff have worked closely with the Elders and community members to develop a strong two-way Language and Culture Program with on-Country experiences and valuable interactive resources to deepen learning. The program’s overarching goal is to provide education in Gija language and traditions, strengthen identity, and empower students to carry Gija knowledge into the future. Language and culture are the foundation for all learning and essential in fostering confident, resilient, and proud young people.
