The Learning Project – Year 4s as real-world Urban designers for our Local Council

The Year 4 Students at Ursula Frayne Catholic College engaged in an integrated studies project in collaboration with the Town of Victoria Park to enhance an urban precinct in the local area. Using Minecraft, students built a scale version of the site and were challenged to re-design the area to address the community’s needs. Students then presented their 3D concept designs to local council members using augmented reality. The experience provided students the opportunity to transfer their learning to an authentic purpose. The Town of Victoria Park installed new Bird Waterers as a result of the students’ design ideas.
