Christ the King Catholic School DJARINDJIN LOMBADINA
Christ the King Catholic School, located on Bardi Country in a remote First Nations community 200km north of Broome, is embedding local language and culture into everyday learning through Translanguaging Pedagogy and Conceptual PlayWorlds. Early Childhood Teacher Katie Grace and First Nations Teaching Assistant Samina Manado guided students through imaginative, story-based PlayWorlds inspired by culturally responsive literature. Children explored Bardi language, customs, and landmarks while extending their learning into literacy and numeracy. This approach has deepened cultural understanding and strengthened identity, creating meaningful connections between classroom learning and community life at Christ the King, Djarindjin Lombadina.
