Waaliny Walkern (Coming of the Colours)

St Thomas’ Primary School’s Waaliny Walkern project supported the journey towards Reconciliation by exploring the deep relationship Aboriginal people have with the Arts to share knowledge and stories. The initiative culminated in an original theatrical performance combining drama, dance and music, engaging students from Kindergarten to Year 6 in retelling the First Nations story of Jindalee and the creation of the Rainbow. Throughout the process, students learnt and practised art forms, built trustful relationships with the First Nations community, and gained insight into cultural and spiritual connections, including Noongar language.
